Definition Of Podiatry:

Podiatry is a branch of medicine devoted to the study of diagnosis, medical and surgical treatment of disorders of the foot, ankle, and lower extremity. The term podiatry came into use in the early 20th century in the United States and is now used worldwide, within countries such as the United Kingdom and Australia.

Why choose a Podiatrist?

Since 2003 the law changed regarding the registration of Chiropodists and Podiatrists. Now only practitioners who satisfy the criteria for HCPC registration can use the titles and it is an offence to misuse this title if not HCPC registered. The HCPC have in place vigorous checks that are carried out to all practitioners registered with the title. Therefore it is advisable to only seek treatment from those that meet the Health Professions Council Registered Podiatrist (HCPC) criteria.
